The school supplements the education offer of the region and it became
an inherent part of the net of other academic schools existing in the region:
University of Silesia, The Silesian University of Technology, prestigious
Medical University of Silesia, University of Economics, Academy of Physical
Education, or The Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music, which trains excellent jazz musicians.

Silesia is one of the most urbanized area of Central Europe. The region presently
envisages the necessity of restructuring and defining its new identity. It can be done
by the development of academic milieu. In 2001 the local branch of the Kraków ASP
(Academy of Fine Arts) evolved into independent Academy of Fine Arts.
