  Wydział Projektowy Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Katowicach zaprasza do udziału w 3. edycji Międzynarodowej Konferencji Projektowej, pod hasłem Badania naukowe w projektowaniu graficznym. Projektowanie graficzne w badaniach naukowych, w dniach 12 — 13 stycznia 2012 r. Tym razem tematem wiodącym jest znaczenie badań naukowych w projektowaniu graficznym i wpływ projektu graficznego na przyswajanie wiedzy, wynikającej z badań naukowych. Pragniemy zwrócić uwagę na wzajemne przenikanie się tych dyscyplin, a także wskazać, jakie znaczenie może mieć współpraca naukowców i projektantów grafików dla rozwoju społeczeństwa opartego na wiedzy.

Wykłady poprowadzą:

urodzony w Tesalonikach w Grecji ukończył studia ekonomiczne na Uniwersytecie Tesaloniki a następnie animację na Sorbonie, w Paryżu. Po powrocie do Grecji założył w Atenach własne studio animacji Spicy Toons. Jest członkiem zespołu autorskiego Logicomix. Praca nad tą książką bedzie tematem jego pezentacji w Katowicach. Obecnie tworzy kolejny komiks pod roboczym tytułem Demokracja.

  The Faculty of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice invites you to participation in the third International Design Conference. This edition is entitled Research in graphic design. Graphic design in research and it will take place 12 — 13 January, 2012. This time, the leading theme will be the importance of scientific research for graphic design and the influence of graphic design over the acquisition of knowledge resulting from research. We would like to indicate the diffusion of the disciplines and show the importance of co-operation between scientists and graphic designers for the development of knowledge-based society.

Our key-note lecturers will be:

born in 1959 in Greece, studied Economics but in 1986 he gets professionally involved with his passion for drawing and design. Ever since, he has worked as animator, cartoon designer, director and comic book author. He is one of of the LOGICOMIX creative team. His work on this project will be the topic of his presentation in Katowice. Currently he works on a graphic novel entitled Democracy.

a designer, lecturer at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, a co-founder and director of the Dynamic Media Institute at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, an editor and co-author of The Langaue of Dynamic Media and The Experience of Dynamic Media publications. Jan Kubasiewicz will give the conference lecture and run a three-day workshop (9-11 January 2012) for academic teachers and doctoral students. The classes will be devoted to creating and conducting the teaching programs and research works at the MA level.

the interactive graphics designer, lecturer at the Universität der Künste in Berlin and Media Art and Design Center at the University of California, Los Angeles. A professional and teacher researching into interface and interactive forms of communication also in space. A co-designer of exhibitions for museums and art installations, as well as theatre scenography and installations in the public space. His studio (ART+COM) designed the widely-known exposition for the Year of Darwin in Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin, devoted to evolution and its scientific interpretations in the historic review.

co-operates with Design Museum in London, where she and other designers and design theorists lead the GraphicDesign&, program devoted to building the interdisciplinary bridges facilitating the co-operation between science and design.
